300x250 Depression, panic attacks, and cant sleep. Solutions...?

I went over to my friend’s house after I told her I was suffering from depression and she invited me over to talk about it and get away from life for a while. After we had a talk about many complicated things, we went to bed and I started to have a panic attack. It was worse than any anxiety I have ever had. Every part of my body froze, I got dizzy, shallow breathing, and I felt like I was going to throw up. After than I got out of bed and started to walk. I walked from 4 in the morning to 5 around the island in her kitchen. I counted how many times: 304. Then I tried to go back to sleep. Again the panic attacks. I gave up and sat there from 5:30 to 9:30. Just…sat there.

It wasn’t just last night. I haven’t been able to sleep for the past five days, yet I’m not tired. The depression has been going on for five months, and last night was the first panic attack I’ve had. I’m going to tell my mom about the sleeping problem tommarow, if it continues. But I can’t stand this anymore.
I also had to get away from her family for a while because my mom was about to pick me up and I couldn’t stop the crying. I want to talk to her mom about it, like she offered, but at the same time she doesn’t know me well enough. I don’t know what anybody on here can do, but please give me any thoughts you have on this, and something I should try? Please no drugs.

You need to go to a therapist, not just talk it out with a friend. A therapist can help determine if you might take medication to help with your symptoms as well as undergo therapy to help.

The kind of symptoms you are describing should be addressed by a medical doctor & a professional who serves those with behavior issues. These symptoms need to be cared for in a way that will not make them worse. Continued loss of sleep can lead to other physical ailments. Since you have a time period when the depression appeared, you should allow a clinician to help you understand what changed to manifest these symptoms (both medical & behavioral). I had a friend who began weeping uncontrollably in her senior year of college. The friend was seen professionally & it was determined a chemical imbalance was the root of the problem. The friend returned to school, caught up & graduated on time. I tell you this to let you know help is out there for you to seek. Don’t give up on yourself. Peace.
