I am always afraid to take drugs and anti – depressants ect. Because when I was young, thought my doctor I was depressed and took the drug (Serzone) made me feel terrible – and very depressed. Now that I’m older (28), I began to have panic attacks. I take no medication, but I plan something for my attacks, even if a bit small. Suggestions, it is a way to crop?

Ask your doctor about lorezapam. It helps me feel better, however the downside is that once it starts to wear off you many times feel worse. Also very important, I found out the hard way that you can become addicted to it, and once you stop taking it you will have major problems.

My best suggestion is to take the medication that the doctor prescribes. In the meantime, you should balance your diet and cut out all caffeine. Try to become aware of what situations cause you panic attacks and be aware of possible relaxation techniques. Since you describe them as minor, I will assume you mean not occurring within short periods of time and repeatedly. If this is the case, your doctor would probably prescribe some diazepam or lorazepam for those episodes at the beginning but recommend you to get some Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for the long-term.

    I think Inna sells Xanax.

No doctor would suggest a drug without evaluating you first. There are many factors in making such a decision. Age, weight, gender, family history, issues, general temperament, health, allergies, BP, etc.

It is not uncommon to have to try different ones before finding what’s good for you. Do seek help now. No one should have to suffer these attacks.

Most of them cannot be stopped cold without a tapering down schedule or you can have really serious side effects.

Tranxane works best for me, but many do not get relief from it.

Your younger exprience is what has changd the way we’re being treated these days and several of the drugs cannot be given to youngsters because of what you suffered. Your Dr. will closely monitor your reactions and you must call if serious side effects occur.

Don’t know anything herbal, but have also had minor panic attacks since going on blood pressure medicine some five years ago. Ironically, my son also has panic attacks that are much more severe than mine and started for him in college.

I take 1/3 of a Lexapro, which really works well. I only have used it when pressures of work get too much, and eventually ween myself off of it. Most of the time, I candle handle the problem myself.

Also recommend two very good books — the Anxiety and Phobia Workbook, by Edmund J. Bourne, OR The Anti-Anxiety Workbook: Proven Strategies to Overcome Worry, Phobias, Panic, and Obsessions (The Guilford Self-Help Workbook Series) by Martin M. Antony PhD and Peter J. Norton PhD. Either book is good.
