I refuse to take any prescription drugs because they have adverse effects on the fetus. My friend who is an RN said it wouldn’t hurt the baby to smoke a couple of times while i was pregnant as long as it wasn’t excessive. is that okay?

I would like to hear some stories because I am having a difficult time dealing with my panic attacks and it feels like I I’m going to pass out or die sometimes. I feel out of breath and dizzy. I just don’t know what to do anymore.

I get severe panic/anxiety attacks sometimes. It’s happened a lot more recently, and I’ve went to the doctors to check everything but they said it was okay. Usually I get a slight anxiety attack during school, but it’s not as bad as my severe ones. Anyone know anything I can do to relax myself while getting these? I usually start breathing really fast and somewhat lose breath, I get very hot, and my heart RACES. Anyone know anything that I can do or use to relax myself? Thanks.

I’m getting panic attacks regularly. I’m sure it’s a panic disorder. I get confused when this happens at school and become blank. I cannot share this with anybody at school as no one understands. I worked at my hometown nursing home for 2 years, loved my job, and i quit in march for a new job. Thats when my panic attcks started, i stuck it out til june, but by then , i wasnt able to leave the house anymore. I have been outa work since, the nursing home keeps beggn me to come back and i want to so bad, but i am so scared and dont know why, it is like home there. I started on celexa 3 weeks ago, they make my anxiety milder. I just hope it takes away my panic attacks so i can go back to work at the nursing home, i miss that place so much, but am so scared my anxiety wil take control over me and i wont be able to work . Help! any advice will be greatly appreciated, dont tell me to suck it up though cuz i tried and i physically cannot!

About a year ago I collapsed at work, was taken to the hospital, felt awful. They did loads of tests and couldn’t find anything. I was diagnosed as having a panic attack. Since then I have reoccuring symptoms when I am in the subway etc. What is a good way to cope with it and cure it?

Why do vicks inhalers seem to calm my panic attacks when I feel them starting?
I am 25 and have gotten panic attacks since i was in middle school. I usually keep a stick of vicks vapor inhaler in my pocket because when I feel the panic come on, if I inhale a little vicks, I seem to calm down and breath a bit more regulated. Is this placebo or did I actually discover a lil handy tool to share with others. I can’t imagine it being good on the nose maybe to use often, but far and few between, it can’t hurt I dont think. Anyways….feedback welcome…thanks!

I read a story once in which one character pressed their chest against the back of the sick person. He told him to not force the breathing but rather concentrate on the rising chest he can feel against his back. I think it was supposed to calm the patient and make it easier to find a rythm.

I have had depression for about 18 years now but started getting panic attacks about 3 years ago – it happened at work & I didnt know what was going on I was working 24/7 rotating roster in my job in a call centre but after I had my baby I didint want to work nights any more – I was put into a completely different section but was given no training – I begged for training as I didnt know what I was doing and was geting things wrong all the time – my supervisors said I didnt need the training as my stats were perfect – anyway one day I answered a call and suddenly it was like the world slowed down and I sped up – I was scared I didnt know what it was – after that I was scared of it happening again and eventually couldnt walk into work at all – now I get them all the time only now I have adrenalin surges usually for no reason at all eg watching TV or just using the internet etc & I now need valium to make them stop – how are you effected & what do you do to end the attack?

Do you get panic attacks, and how do you manage them?
How do you manage your panic attacks? Ive had them sense i was a child, im 24 now. Mine are very very random, Ive had as meny as 3 a day, then not had one for 4 months. I have a prescription for Xanax to take when i get one, an that seems to work very well but there are times were it still doesnt calm me down.
